Leather Characteristics and Qualities. Not all executive leather chairs are created equal. The same way that leather shoes and bags vary in quality, leather chairs use varying leather grades and types. "Full-grain leather" is the highest leather grade available for furniture and other leather products. It is durable and is characterized by a natural look with visible and unique grains and markings from animal skin. "Corrected grain leather," on the other hand, is a grade lower than full grain leather. This leather grade is made ready by buffing or sanding, getting rid of imperfection. It is highly durable and stylish as well. High quality leather is suitable in a high-impact environment. It is up to the buyer which look he prefers better.
Leather chairs are one type of furniture that is very popular in many design plans for a home and it is a furniture piece that many people shy away from because the perceived cost can be too high. What people forget is a good quality leather chair will last much longer then a fabric chair, keep the look of a new chair longer, and be more comfortable as the years pass. Lets look at some of the reasons why. If you have a busy family and pets you know how difficult it is to keep things clean in your house without chasing your kids around with a vacuum and a wash cloth. One nice feature that is inherent with leather is its resistant to spills and messes. If you kids or husband spill their snack or drink on a fabric couch it is a race to get a cloth or towel and you hope you can clean it up. Even a spill treated fabric will suffer some damage and wear from this type of spill. Leather on the other hand will be easy to clean, just wipe up the juice or crumbs and its like nothing ever happened.
The frame construction should be a point of emphasis on any chair you consider for your house since this is the skeleton that supports all the material and coverings of the chair as well as your weight when you sit down. Look for wood frames that are screwed or bolted together. A frame that is nailed together is likely to loose strength over time and can start to wiggle and creak which isnt what you want in a great chair. Metal frames should have excellent welds...these will be clean and smooth to the touch with no pitting or rough spots. If you are feel that the welds are rough or messy it would be a good idea to consider a different manufacturer as it is very difficult to find someone to repair welds on a metal chair frame later on.
