If you want your chair to last for many, many years consider buying chairs made of high quality leather and made by well-known manufacturers because they would truly provide you many years of great service. High quality chairs made of leather usually are upholstered in a single piece of leather hide, and has the best look. Sometimes, to reduce the costs of producing their chairs, most chair producers or manufacturers, use a good quality vinyl to upholster the back part of the product so choose carefully and look closely at the leather chairs to see whether they are purely made of leather of not.
Check to see if your chair is water resistant. If the leather on the chair is shiny, it most likely is protected from liquids. However, some chairs are non-finished, and these should not be cleaned with liquid products. Whether or not it is water-resistant, always use caution when dealing with leather. For non-finished leather chairs, use an art-gum eraser and erase the dirt from the chair. This is essentially the only way to clean this type of chair. You might have to clean the entire chair this way. For water-resistant chairs, use the eraser to clean up minor dirt spots. Wash water-proof chairs with mild soap such as Ivory. Use a bucket of room temperature water and rub the soap together with your hands in it. Make sure it is not hot or cold; it must be room temperature or the soap will not clean properly. Make sure to clean the entire chair thoroughly with a clean, damp cloth that has been soaked in the soapy water. If you dont clean certain parts, the chair may look splotchy. Rinse it off with another damp cloth. Now dry the leather chair with another clean cloth.
As with all leather upholstered furniture you will find executive leather office chairs with different leather characteristics and qualities. The highest quality of leather used for furniture is called full grain leather. The full grain leather is very durable, has a natural look and feel with visible grains and markings from the animals skin. The next grade is a corrected grain leather where some buffing or sanding was necessary to correct its imperfections before use. Leathers of both qualities offer great durability and style although the higher quality leather will be better suited for a high impact environment and many people prefer the natural leather look.
